About the Tour
How far in advance do I need to book?
There is no requirement about this. But the sooner you book, the more chances are that we will find vacancies in the preferred accomodations.
Are there set departure dates?
We can start at any date. But depending on your chosen itinerary, we will make starting date suggestions (because of national holidays, availability of accomodations etc).
Where do the trips start?
Even though most of our tours start in Bucharest, we can easily adjust the programs in order to accomodate any starting point inside Romania or in neighbouring countries. For example, starting from Budapest (Hungary) is particularly common.
Can I make changes to the itinerary?
Sure. The tours we are providing should be taken as just suggestions, but we can tailor them or create brand new ones based exclusively on your input. Even during the tour, any adjustment can be made, and the ones that don’t interfere with booked stays will be free (including extra visits on or off route).
Why is only breakfast included for most days?
In order to provide maximum flexibility both to your time line and to your food taste, we only provide breakfast and an occasional special meal representative for that region.
Do you provide insurance?
We do not provide insurance. Based on our experience, unwanted situations are best dealt with when the insurance is purchased in the home country of the traveler.
About the country
Is Romania an EU country?
Yes. Nontheless, it still uses its own money (so the currency of Romania is LEI, not Euros).
Is Romania a safe country?
Yes. It is one of the safest. Crime rates are very low, both for violent crimes and for petty theft. Use the same common sense you would at home.
Do I need a passport to enter Romania? Do I need a visa?
If you are not a EU citizen, you need a passport for accessing the country. Visitors from US, Canada and Australia do not need a visa. If you come from another country, please enquire.
Can I use English to get along?
Yes, most young urban people have at least some basic English knowledge.
Can I still use Euros or dollars in stores? Can I use credit cards to pay in stores and restaurants?
Some places take Euros and USD (especially souvenir sellers), but most stores do not, and the ones that do will offer a poor exchange rate. Visa and MasterCard are accepted almost everywhere, but there are exceptions. American cards are some times rejected.
Should I exchange money before I arrive in Romania?
No. In Romania you will get a lot better exchange rates than in your country or in airports.
Is it easy to find an ATM?
Yes. In the cities they are very easy to find.
Are there bears and wolves in Romania?
Yes. Since Romania has almost half of the bears on the continent, it is common to spot brown bears in mountainous areas. With 25% of the country’s surface designated as protected area, it also supports the largest wolf population accounting for 15% of all the specimens in Europe. Being shyer then the bears thou, you are very unlikely to spot one.
